Singapore has confirmed qualification to the global qualifiers for 2022 T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in Australia thanks to a recalculation of the ICC T20I rankings. This is another milestone for Singapore cricket since advancing to the globar qualifier for the first time back in 2019 where they beat Scotland and Bermuda.
Global qualifier for 2022 T20 World Cup will be 2 events of 8 teams. Top two teams from these evetns will secure their places in Australia. Zimbabwe, Nepal and UAE are the other teams alongside Singapore that automatically qualifies based on the T20 rankings. Four teams that finish bottom at the T20 World Cup in 2021 will also be granted automatic qualification.
We at SCA are deeply saddened by the loss of Dato Dr Harjit Singh. Dr Harjit was instrumental in the growth of cricket in the region as the President of Johor Cricket Council, since 1987 till the present day and the Deputy President of Malaysian Cricket Association from 1990 to 2003. He was also the founder of the first Cricket programme in primary school not only in Johor State, but also in Malaysia in 1987.
He was instrumental in his support to the SCA during SEA Games and also during 2017-2018 preparations of the Singapore National Men’s Squad by hosting the team at the Johor Cricket Association Ground and facility. We are grateful for his support over the years!
May God give strength to his family and friends to bear this loss. May he rest in peace.

ACC MEDIA RELEASE
EXECUTIVE BOARD UPDATE
The Executive Board of the ACC has met on multiple occasions to evaluate the impact of the COVID- 19 pandemic on the Asia Cup tournament scheduled in September 2020.
From the onset the Board was keen on organising the tournament as per the original schedule. However, travel restrictions, country-specific quarantine requirements, fundamental health risks and social distancing mandates have posed as substantial challenges to the holding of the Asia Cup. Above all, the risks related to health and safety of participating players, support staff, commercial partners, fans and the cricketing community were deemed to be significant.
Accordingly, the Board, after careful consideration of all the above factors, has determined that the Asia Cup 2020 be postponed. Conducting the event in a responsible manner remains the priority of the ACC and the Board is hopeful that the tournament will be held in 2021. The ACC is currently working towards securing June 2021 as a suitable window for the same.
It may also be noted that the hosts for the Asia Cup 2020, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has exchanged hosting rights for the tournament with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). Through this arrangement, the SLC will now host the rescheduled Asia Cup expected in June 2021 while the PCB will host the Asia Cup 2022.
