SCA 19s vs BJSS Cricket XI

With the late withdrawal of Myanmar from the tournament, the SCA arranged with the Bukit Jalil Sports School to play a 30 over match on the day Singapore were due to take on Myanmar. The match was played at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Oval in Bangi.

The Bukit Jalil Sports School is a sporting school of excellence in where various codes of sport, including cricket, give out scholarships to Malaysian youth who show promise in their chosen sport from around the country.

The Bukit Jalil Cricket Program has produced Malaysian cricketers over the years and currently also boast about nine players playing for Malaysia at U16s and U19s level.

The SCA 19s had pre arranged to bat first and put on a decent total of 146/6 in 30 overs. Top scorer for SCA 19s being skipper Vinit Mehta with 33* (36) before being retired. Other members of the top order chipping in with scores of 20s.

SCA 19s then took the field and were ruthless with the ball, dismissing BJSS Cricket XI for 53 in 12 overs with chief tormentor, leg spinner Pramesh Singhavi posting figures of 4/10 in 2.2 overs.

A morale boosting win for the SCA 19s but more importantly some valuable game time before Singapore play tournament favourites Nepal in the last Group A match where a win for either team will see them top the group.

Singapore take on Nepal tomorrow, the 5th of July 2019 at the Kinrara Oval at 10.30am.
