Game 1 CWC CHALLENGE LEAGUE A
Singapore took on Qatar in their 1st match on a rather hazy day at the Kinrara Oval in Malaysia.
Amjad M (10 ovrs 3 for 42), Anantha K (10 ovrs 2 for 30) & Aryaman U ( 10 ovrs 2 for 61) together with Vinoth B (10 ovrs 1 for 41) managed to restrict Qatar to 232 for the loss of 8 wkts in 50 Ovrs on what was a wonderful batting wkt.
Singapore’s reply despite the early loss of openers Arjun M & Rohan Ranga was bolstered by Surendran C’s 67(75), Tim D’s 75(86). Manpreet S scored 40 and was dismissed in quick succession right after the fall of Singapore’s No.4 Tim David.
This triggered a collapse or rather an avalanche on what still a very good surface to bat on. Singapore went from 198 for 3 to being 213 All Out with in 31 balls.
Gayan B for Qatar captured a 5 fr including the wkt of Singapore’s opener off the very 1st ball of Singapore’s inns in the chase.
He was ably supported by Qatar Captain Iqbal C who captured 4wkts for 50 in his 10 ovrs.
Qatar won by a narrow margin of 19 runs.
Qatar Captain Iqbal C was declared Player of the Match for his 4 wkts and 23 N.O.
Singapore take on Denmark in their 2nd Game tomorrow at STC ground in KL and are looking forward to bounce back strongly.
