Harbans Singh, a past president of the Singapore Cricket Association, passed away on 25 Feb 2023.

The 92-year-old Harbans was a stalwart of SCA and led the front for several years. He played for Singapore Chinese Recreation Club and was in charge in difficult times when the sport lacked sponsorship and funds.

“Harbans would periodically call to ask about local cricket development,” said SCA president Mahmood Gaznavi. “He was very interested in following the growth and progress of the sport. We recognise that he was in charge at a time the sport struggled to attract sufficient numbers and he put in a great deal of effort to lead.”

Harbans was an Honorary Life Member of SCA. He was also an Honorary Life Member of the prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club, a club that has considerable global influence over cricket.

The funeral and cremation will be held at Mandai at 7.30pm at Hall 2 today [26 Feb 2023].

SINGAPORE U19s blaze through undefeated to WIN the ICC CWC Qualifiers Asia Div-2 Championship. The win takes the TEAM one step closer to an U19 WC berth.

In the finals, Hong Kong u19s who won the toss and elected to bat were restricted to 201/9 (50.0) by a solid Singapore u19s bowling unit performance.

The chase got tricky as Singapore was 2 for 7 with both openers back in the hut and further challenging when Sid Srikanth the leading run-scorer of the tournament was back in the sheds with the board reading 46/3(11.5).

It is at this juncture that Singapore u19s showed their depth in batting reserves with Vihaan M 102(92) playing an innings fitting the BIG FINAL to score a century and take the TEAM to within sight of glory.

The ever-dependable rearguard action of Aaryan Modi 56*(70) and Capt. Jeevan S 13*(15) ensured Singapore chased down the target and Won by 5 wkt with more than 12.0 overs to spare.

The WIN was stylishly signed off by Captain Jeevan S, hitting the winning runs with a crisp SIX over long on. The team charged on to the OCA Oval as proud SCA Officials watched and cheered the boys on together with the rest of the support staff.

Singapore u19 Capt. Jeevan S was awarded the PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT for picking up a truckload of wickets (15 wkts in 5 games).

Singapore U19s won many an applause and fans for the brand of cricket they played in Oman. Wish them all the very best and trust this WIN will build a great TEAM & PLAYERS contributing to many more PROUD MOMENTS FOR SINGAPORE CRICKET for years to come.

SCA THANKS ALL THE WELL WISHERS for their support.

The TEAM ARRIVES IN SINGAPORE ON SUNDAY. WISH THE TEAM A SAFE JOURNEY BACK.

SINGAPORE U19s Mens fly through to the finals of the U19 CWC Qualifiers Asia Div-2s, with a comprehensive WIN by 10 Wkts over Bahrain.

Having won the toss, Bahrain only managed 62 runs in 36.3 overs; before being blown away by the Singapore U19s bullet train on a one-way demolition mission to the finals.

Adwitya Bhargava was the tip of the spear that did the major damage to the Bahrain inns, ably supported by the Singapore bowling group delivering in pure concert lead well by Capt. Jeevan S under the guidance of the coaching think tank on tour.

The new opening pair of Rahil Khan 30*(41) and Pratham Somani 23*(36) dusted off the required runs in 12.3 overs to confirm a finals spot and ensure SINGAPORE U19s onward qualification progression to U19 WC.

Adwitya Bhargava was awarded Player of the Match for his rapid and impactful spell of 6.0 overs 1(M) 3WKTS FOR 15 runs at an Econ of 2.50 RPO.
Singapore’s campaign for progress was beautifully crafted by SCA officials and executed by the young guns during this crucial tournament.
SCA THANKS ALL WELL WISHERS, STAKEHOLDERS and especially the parents and the supporting fans.

Wishing the TEAM all the very best to go ALL THE WAY and GO WELL in the Finals.
