Singapore Cricket Association creates history by organizing first ever ICC T20 international cricket series in Singapore between Singapore National Women’s team and Myanmar National Women’s team.
Singapore Cricket association (The governing body of Cricket in Singapore) invited Myanmar Cricket Federation to play 3 ICC international cricket matches in Singapore.
All the 3 matches were played under the flood lights from 18th April to 20th April 2019.
Out of 3, Myanmar won 2 matches and the 3rd and last match was cancelled due to heavy rain.
Matches Summary:
Day 1 (18 April 2019): Myanmar won the toss and elected to field first. Singapore women’s set the target of 60 runs in 20 overs by losing 9 wickets. Myanmar completed the target and made 61 runs in 7.3 overs without losing any wicket.
Day 2 (19 April 2019): Singapore won the toss and put Myanmar to bat first. Myanmar set the target of 135 runs in 20 overs by losing 7 wickets. Singapore Women’s gave a very good start but due to quick fall of wickets and few run outs they could achieve only 86 runs in 20 overs by losing 9 wickets.
Day 3 (20 April 2019): Singapore Women’s did few changes in the team and were quite confident to win the last and final match. However, the match was cancelled due to heavy rain and Myanmar won the series by 2-Nil.
Singapore Cricket Association is committed and putting lots of efforts in growing this wonderful sport in the Singapore. In South East Asia, they are the first one to install flood lights to play cricket in night so that that the Singapore citizens could come and learn Cricket after finishing their schools or work etc. from their high level experienced international coaches.
GROUP B | MATCH 1 | SINGAPORE VS BHUTAN
20th April 2019
Singapore took on Bhutan in their first Group B match at the beautiful settings of the Royal Chiangmai Golf Club. Winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Singaporean pace attack, though wayward at times, struck crucial blows to the Bhutanese batting line up, most notably Aaron Varghese who took 3 wickets in one over, with all three victims clean bowled. Varghese finishing with figures of 3/9 off 3 overs while his partner in attack, Neil Karnik registering figures of 2/3 in his 4 overs.Jeevan Santhanam was introduced into the bowling attack and his left arm spin wrecked further havoc on the Bhutanese as they were wrapped up for 48 in 14 overs, Santhanam helping himself to 5 wickets for 11 runs in 3 overs.
Singapore in to bat and openers Chajjer and Maheshwari made light work of the chase, especially the left hander Chhajer who took to the Bhutanese bowling attack scoring 27* (22) while Maheshwari scoring a run a ball 16*.Jeevan Santhanam named Man of the Match for his 5 wicket haul.
A commanding 10 wicket victory in the first fixture of the campaign and a big boost to the confidence of the team who had come off a difficult series against the Malaysians in the revamped Carl Schubert Trophy, all of whom were playing representative cricket for the first time. However, the experience of playing age group representative level just before the ACC ER Trophy seemed to have paid off well with a win at the start of this campaign and should bode well for the rest of the tournament.
Singapore play Hong Kong in their next fixture on the 23rd of April and a win in this fixture would confirm qualification for the semi-finals of the tournament.
Leave your messages of congratulations for the boys on SCA Facebook page link as below and best wishes for their next match. MAJULAH!

We are not building future for our Youth, but we are building our youth for the future.
The Carl Schubert Trophy, historically played since 1970 as a 3 day fixture between the Singapore and Malaysia U23s sides will now be converted into a U16s trophy for its 49th year of being contested.
With sights firmly set on the developmental aspects of junior representative cricketers in both nations and also keeping with the times with cricket development requirements on a global scale with ICC, providing a competitive series of fixtures annually between a Singapore U16s and Malaysia U16s side would expose these cricketers to playing representative cricket in a hotly contested trophy.
This would also serve as preparations for the Asian Cricket Council ( ACC) Eastern Region U16s Trophy played every two years and also set U16s representative players well in progressing through the talent pathway into U19s and Senior representative cricket for both nations.
The SCA have nominated a 14-man squad which will travel to KL, Malaysia to face Malaysia U16s in a three-match series contesting the Carl Schubert Trophy.
The three-match series will consist of two T20 matches and a 35 over match of which the winner of most matches will secure the trophy for the year. For the 2019 edition, the matches will be played at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Oval in Bangi. Two T20 matches will be played on the 11th of April while the 35 Over Match will be played on the 12th of April 2019.
Coincidentally, the Carl Schubert Trophy for 2019 will also act as ideal preparations for both U16s teams as they will compete in the ACC Eastern Region U16s Trophy to be held in Chiangmai, Thailand from the 18th -29th of April 2019. While captain for the U16s, Raoul Sharma and Arnaav Chabria will be playing at the ICC Asia U19s CWC Qualifiers during the same time, Girin Gune will take on the captainship for these matches against Malaysia U16s.

The SCA have selected a 14-member squad which will represent Singapore U16s at the upcoming ACC U16s Eastern Region Trophy which is to be hosted in Chiang Mai, Thailand from the 18th -29th April 2019.
The team will be led by Raoul Sharma, who interestingly is already a seasoned campaigner with the U16s having represented the same in 2017 at the last ACC U16s tournament.

Singapore will come up against Hong Kong, Bhutan and China in Group B after which the top two will play crossover semi-finals with winners moving on to the finals.
Singapore U16s have had a proud history at the ACC U16s Trophy having won it in 2007 and then famously in 2010 when they beat powerhouses Nepal in their own backyard.
Singapore made the finals in 2017 against habitual finalists Nepal, but lost the encounter to finish second overall.
Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal and hosts Thailand will make up the teams in Group A.
