SPINNERS Rohan Tripathi and Dharmichand Mulewa carried on our batsmen's good work to lay the foundation for Singapore's 90-run win over Hongkong in the opening match of the Air Nuigini Super Series competition in Port Moresby on 1 September 2010.
Electing to bat, there were contributions all round with Anish Param top-scoring for us with 53. Munish Arora batted cleverly to register 42 with Buddhika Mendis making 41 after fellow-opener Chetan Suryawanshi hit 32.
Hongkong, a Division Three team in the World Cricket League, started smoothly in their response. It needed the guile of Dharmichand Mulewa to take 3 quick wickets to check Hongkong. Rohan Tripathi cleaned up the lower-order with 4 wickets.
Singapore face hosts Papua New Guinea on 2 Sep 2010. Malaysia is the other team, in the quadrangular tournament.
